Lisa Lask

The Director and Master Trainer at Jo-Thor's Dog Academy is Lisa Lask. Lisa is the daughter of Joan Lask. Lisa fondly remembers; "Growing up with a mother who trained dogs was incredible as I was constantly surrounded by them. I have fond memories as a young girl, observing my mom train our two Great Danes, Thor and Heather and watching her obedience group classes".

In 1994, Lisa started working full time with Joan and Jo-Thor's Dog Academy and launched one of the initial doggie day schools in Georgia. Lisa started with just one dog, but by the year's end, she was managing 15 to 20 dogs daily, supported by 2 assistant trainers. Later, she assisted Joan in developing her school for dog trainers' and the course materials. Since then, she has taught countless private lessons, conducted board training, trained dogs for commercials and print ads, and created and instructed classes focused on teaching dogs obedience and tricks.

The Owner at Jo-Thor's Dog Trainers’ Academy is Joan Lask, a 40-year veteran of the pet industry. She has trained dogs in various settings since 1970. Working with her own Great Dane, "Thor", the idea of a training academy was developed in Bolingbrook, Illinois, where she lectured in obedience and did numerous demonstrations with her trained dogs. She also showed competitively in conformation and obedience.

Joan has trained dogs for movies and television commercials.Movies include:The Nightman, The Two Tonys and Fried Green Tomatoes (farm animals).Some commercials include: Bell South Yellow Pages Ad with Dixie Carter from Designing Women, Ford Motor Company, NAPA Auto Parts, Cumberland Mall (Atlanta, GA), Town Center Mall (Kennesaw, GA) Mckenzie Frozen Foods, Network Rental, Stanley Tools, Aaron Rents, 1st American Bank, Bank South, PetStuff and the Georgia Lottery.Mrs. Lask has trained animals for live theater and The Atlanta Opera.She has done print ads for Weiland Homes, Storehouse Furniture and others.She has trained dogs for circus acts,participated in fashions shows and has been interviewed on radio.Additionally, Joan has been featured on news specials on both Atlanta's Channel 5 and Channel 2 News at noon and the Healthy
